Grace & Grit is women’s safety and security program designed to equip women with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to protect themselves. Through a combination of education, practical training, and community support, we empower women to take control of their personal safety while fostering a strong, faith-based sisterhood.

 

Program Components

1. Monthly Book Reading & Discussion

2. Focus: Books centered on women’s safety, self-defense, and empowerment.

3. Examples of book selections:

The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker (instincts and situational awareness)

o Safe People by Henry Cloud

Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend (healthy personal limits)

Sharp Women by Kelly Sayre (empowerment and self-defense)

4. Monthly discussion sessions (virtual or in-person) to reflect on key takeaways and apply them to real-life situations.

2. Educational Articles & Resources

• Monthly articles on topics such as:

o Situational awareness in daily life

o Home security strategies

o Self-defense techniques (both armed and unarmed)

o De-escalation and conflict resolution

o Understanding personal boundaries and consent

o Trauma recovery and mental resilience

• Resource list including:

o Books, blogs, and websites on personal safety

 

2. Firearm Training & Self-Defense Practice

• Quarterly gun range visits for members who choose to learn about firearm safety and handling.

o Training with certified instructors

o Focus on safe handling, marksmanship, and legal responsibility

o Simulation training for real-world scenarios

• Alternative self-defense training for non-firearm users

o Pepper spray and taser training

o Krav Maga or other self-defense classes

o How to escape dangerous situations
