What you looking at?

Distraction is a thief. It silently creeps in, often disguised as something urgent or seemingly important, yet its true intent is to derail us from our purpose. I firmly believe that many distractions—if not most—are strategically placed to shift our focus away from what God has called us to do and distance us from the promises He has spoken over our lives.

Each one of us has been entrusted with unique gifts—innate abilities that we did not earn or work for but were freely given by God. The question is, what are we doing with those gifts? Are we nurturing them, using them for His glory, or are we allowing the noise of life to drown out our purpose? Do we even recognize the gifts we carry, or have we become so consumed by the everyday struggles that we fail to see them?

Life has a way of throwing distractions at us—worries about finances, relationships, work, health, and countless other things that demand our attention. If we are not careful, these distractions can slowly pull us away from our calling. And if we allow them to dominate our thoughts and actions, then the enemy of our purpose has already won.

I’m reminded of the powerful moment in Matthew 14:22-33 when Jesus walked on water. Peter, full of faith yet trembling, stepped out of the boat with his eyes locked on Jesus. In that moment, fear and uncertainty surrounded him, but his focus was fixed on the One who called him forward. However, as soon as he allowed his attention to shift—when he took his eyes off Jesus and instead focused on the raging storm—he began to sink. The waves had always been there, but they only had power over him when he gave them his attention.

I have to commend Peter. Out of all the disciples, he was the only one who had the courage to step out of the boat. That alone is remarkable. But faith isn’t just about starting; it's about continuing. So many begin the race with passion and determination, but the true test comes in persevering through the distractions, the storms, and the doubts that inevitably arise.

The prize is not in merely stepping out—it’s in pressing forward, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, and refusing to let distractions pull us away from our purpose
